Hi, I would like to announce my latest mod which is the simpleseo mod.
Preamble
I did alot of reading and research about how sites are index. I also did alot of experimentation on my own websites looking at how I have been crawled based on my meta tags and page content. I have since determined that search engine optimization is not as complicate as some people make it seem. With this in mind I set out to make an seo improvement for phpfox myself.
What this mod do
This mod simply allows you to manually set a title, description and a set of keywords for any url on your phpfox website. As it is now the only thing really dynamic in this three part system is the title. However most of the time you only see the default title anyways. Essentially instead of having a bunch of pages with the same title, description and keywords you get to set meta data that uniquely identifies each page. The reason I did it manually by url is cause each phpfox website is different with its own content so as the administrator you will be able to tweak descriptions and titles to suit your specific niche.
The good thing about this is that it does not completely override the default phpfox title, description and keywords. So for pages like blogs where you may be satisfied with with what phpfox generates as the title you can opt to leave the phpfox generated title and put in a description and keywords. As long as you create a url rule for seo optimization you can opt to allow the default phpfox behavior for any of the three. This also means that you do not have to set this for every single url on your site. Personally I would only do it for the main links on the site and the homepage.
Any extra features?
Essentially you can add, edit and remove urls once matched will display the meta data you specify. The other thing is you have the option of enabling and disabling the seo optimization per url without deleting the rule you create. This is very helpful for instance if you want to build your intricate seo plan and not have the search engines see it before you are done.
Will this be improved with more features?
In the next version I will be adding in more options allowing for automatically generated tags and possible more features based on feeback I get from you guys.
What version of phpfox is this for?
I created this using phpfox v1.6 build 20. Most likely later on I can add support for builds 18 and 19.
